I am trying to select a translation tool that is both easy to use and cost competitive. What are some of the popular tools that most translators use for translations? I am working on a lot of web projects so the tool must support XML.

Based on the number of words translated, Google Translate is now the number one translation tool on the market. However, many freelance translators use Trados, Wordfast, SDLX, Catalyst and TermWiki Workbench for content and terminology translation on a regular basis. It will be interesting to see if Google decides to introduce a desktop version of their translation tool to combine machine and human translations into one integrated environment.
